SBO is one of the centenary observation stations of the WMO

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) maintains a list of all observatories that have been conducting meteorological observations for more than a hundred years. Particularly important are the stations that have never changed its location since the beginning of their data recordings. The Sonnblick Observatory (SBO) is listed next to five other Austrian stations.

The list can be found here:

Long-term monitoring is quite expensive, but it is of indescribable importance. For this reason, the WMO also made a promotional video:
"These long-term measurements are the backbone of both weather forecasting and climate science." Prof. Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, World Meteorological Organization [WMO]
You can support the Sonnblick Observatory to continue capturing climate data for many centuries ahead - become a member of the Sonnblick Association or donate here.
Many Thanks!
