AutoPollen-SYLVA Training School visits the Sonnblick Observatory.

The AutoPollen-SYLVA Training School took place from 31 August to 4 September at the Mesnerhaus in Rauris and was co-organised by GeoSphere Austria / Department Sonnblick Observatory. The event brought together 30 researchers from 15 countries to learn about and exchange ideas on the latest developments in automatic pollen monitoring.

A varied programme combining expert lectures with hands-on exercises gave participants the opportunity to directly apply and test their newly acquired knowledge. Throughout the Training School, particular emphasis was placed on fostering intensive exchange and collaboration among the researchers.

A special highlight of the Training School was a visit to the Sonnblick Observatory. There, participants gained practical insights into cloud and aerosol research and were introduced to a range of additional measurement methods. The visit also provided an opportunity to learn more about the importance of high-altitude monitoring stations for atmospheric research, as well as the role of pollen and other bioaerosols in understanding atmospheric processes.
