Activites & Projects

About 25 research institutes working and doing research at the Sonnblick Observatory having about 43 projects runnung.
Since 1886, the Sonnblick Observatory has always evolved. The main scientific cornerstones are the following:

  • 1927 snow network at the Sonnblick (monthly registration)
  • 1958 recording of radiation data (sunshine duration)
  • 1965 written record of avalanche observations
  • 1983/84 precipitation chemistry (acid rain) & ODL probe / radioactivity
  • 1988 Air chemistry, gas measurement by the Austrian UBA
  • 1989 Measurement of radioactive aerosols
  • 1994 ozone and UV in NDACC
